spaceman Its not just that its still in development, but that its $30 for being THAT in development. Gallery was only added yesterday, and we still don't have any ideas for how modding will even function or the extent we will be able to mod. There is also limited game-modes available, and according to cake, omegga is severely limited due to broken linux port support (we don't even have a linux version anymore. it now is a windows version that we use proton on for linux) for dedicated servers.
Then, even if we avoid the modding issues, the other building aspects to the game are lacking. While Brickadia, in its current build, is mostly about socializing and slight building, the tools are a downgrade from alpha (on-screen dimensions not being displayed for sizers) or we get Resizable frogs before controllable flying machines (while those may seem like unfair comparisons, physics and other KEY PAID FEATURES are still actively in development/ not even present yet, and the features we do get do not feel like things that the team should prioritize).
I've played and paid for a few games with steep price investments for what the game actually had, so the actual price point is not my issue. Vintage Story was a steep price (back in 2020) for what it had, but it had amazing promise. For Lay of the Land, I will gladly support them despite the seemingly sparse dev cycles because what they do show is focused on a clear vision, and only really important aspects are being focused on (atleast right now). The timeline seems clearer that brickadia three years ago, and for both projects, they are really showing good results.
