Request regarding how bricks are measured wile building

Made an account here specifically to make this request.

As it is, a 1x1x1 brick is not actually a cube, but is 1/5 of a unit taller. Fine, the regular bricks are like lego, the inspiration is obvious. But I'm not coming from lego. If I'm making a wall that I want to be 10 units tall, I would like the game to tell me when it's 10 units tall, not "8+1f". I'm not saying get rid of it, I just want a setting to change it. I can work around it by just having extra blocks around acting as in-world measuring sticks, but it would be a great quality of life improvement if I didn't have to.

glitchdx The funny devs in this game have an habit to code useless stuff. I believe they dont even test their game, or never build. For example, in the a5 version (the one before the steam release), you had the abiity to use a circle tool (ouliner), they removed it. Another example: you could use a tool while having your currently selected bricks still showing on the grid (YES! a temp brick!!) it was REALLY useful. You know what? they removed it too.

A lot of people, me included, believe the devs are semi idiots for never listening to people, or never allowing us to play the way we want (zeblote usually says "its not the way to use it, you obviously do it wrong").

I follow you on this, a setting to change this would be nice, but with the current dev team, it likely wont happen soon.

This is unfortunate, as this game is on my shortlist of potential replacements for minecraft I have for my circle of friends (as in I'd buy about 10 copies of the game to distribute to my people if and only if the game proved to be fit for purpose). I refuse to give microslop so much as the time of day.

So about that minecraft replacement thing

I used minecraft mostly as a collaborative 3d art tool that sorta had a game attached to it. Other candidates on the list either lack the tools I desire or are so early in development that there isn't even a playable version available yet.

But your description of the devs sounds about right. They seem very proud of their circuitboard system. Why do I need a degree in electrical engineering to make a door? I should be able to design a door, plunk it down, and it work. That's another thing I can work around, but the measurement system is more pressing to me.

glitchdx Well thats the main issue. Minecraft has the advantage of unlimited terrain, which is indeed, very neat. Yes totodile is right about the devs and their shit, they are ruining the game.
Regarding the use of wires, some people made tutorials on the forum but, i personally hate the fact that you need, as you said, great knowledge to make the most basic shit, and the "tutorial" the game do provide dont introduce wires at all.

I wish more people would do wires tutorials.

One thing tho: in the next update (around june i think?) there will be the introduction of luau system, idk how they will add it, and to what extend will be the possiblities, but it will allow a much better use of a pre modding system.

I admit i am also a bit confused by the measurement system, its another thing the devs did, having little to no regard for people actually building.

I personally cant recommand the game for now, as most people do is building, and wait for the next update to really enjoy luau (maybe lol)

The people with hours in this game are the ones building towards something. If you gonna buy 10 copies of this game (holy shit btw based friend) and distribute it among friends ask yourself if that's what they primarily do in minecraft. For me this game is kinda separate the art from the artist status. I've done measuring like you too with building rulers for stuff outof microbricks which opposed to normal bricks actually are measured in 1/10 of a stud. when resizing, so it exists ig. A 1x1 normal brick is the same size as a 10x10x12 microbrick.

I don't see the wiring system to be that complicated to be honest, but I can see how going into it without knowledge is overwhelming. The pro is that logic gates and blocks are recognizeable in comp sci and can serve as an introduction to that for younger people that would eventually be playing. It could do with some more to guide intuition of people who don't know all expressions beforehand, which is the con, it is literally computer science in a sense. Not to imply that something like making a door is as advanced as knowing an entire study, it is relatively simple, but not intuitive for the uninitiated, they can definetively do more to ease people into it.
